This program focuses on helping participants build a strong foundation in Karate by focusing on hands-on application of formal Karate syllabus for practical self-defense and personal empowerment. Practice involves the study of body mechanics, techniques, and concepts in unarmed combatives (i.e. striking, grappling, takedowns, joint manipulation), incorporating principles-based training. This program is contact-intensive blending solo and partnered practice and is run with safety and respect at its core- using protective equipment and upholding the spirit of Japanese martial arts culture (budo). |

Who is this class for?
Participants aged 15 and above, who are new to Karate/ Kudo/ martial arts or or those interested in experiencing martial arts in a format that emphasizes practical application of techniques and concepts from the context of self-defence and martial arts (i.e. exploration of combative techniques without rules).

60 - 90 minutes

Participants may also attend other Programs in tandem with this class.
Participants interested in formal progression in the practice may express their interest for Grading to the Coach-Instructor.
- Develop and Refine fundamental unarmed combat skills (movement, striking, grappling, etc.) for practical self-defense, full-contact sparring enjoyment, and general fitness
- Experience a martial arts program that emphasizes physical application without the stress of memorization
- Learn martial arts in a safe, non-competitive, and progressive manner (rotating subject focus every month)

- Class Opening - "Meditation" and Safety Brief
- Warming-up
- Basics
- Impact Practice + Physical Conditioning (monthly rotating focus)
- Technical Lesson + Free Play (monthly rotating focus)
- Class Closing - "Meditation" and Cleaning-up
