Practical Karate
Looking to learn Karate for self-defence and personal empowerment?
|
The Practical Karate program at LHA is the study and active application of formal Karate syllabus for practical self-defence and personal empowerment. It focuses on building a strong foundation in Karate by enabling participants to perform techniques dynamically in full-contact and resistance, while inculcating critical thinking skills, and forging a strong fighting spirit. Practice involves the analysis of body mechanics, techniques, and concepts in unarmed combatives (i.e. striking, grappling, takedowns, joint manipulation), incorporating principles-based training, all done in the context of the dynamic and no-holds-barred nature of violence in real life. This program is contact-intensive and is run with safety and respect at its core- incorporating protective equipment, while upholding the spirit of Japanese martial arts culture (budo). |
