Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do you provide free trials?
> No, we do not provide free trials. This is due to indemnity concerns and the administration policies at our practice venues.
How is learning Karate different at LHA compared to other Karate dojo?
> Mainly, our programs are function-driven, with each class focusing on either combative applications, forms, conditioning, etc. They are delivered by licensed instructors of different Karate backgrounds using the approach of Principles-based Training.
In contrast, most Karate classes are conveyed by instructors from a single style/ school/ system, following the traditions of that school.
Ultimately, no one method is more superior than the other and it largely depends on how the participant prefers to approach Karate.
What is the best way to understand Karate before enrolling?
> Visit a class, observe and interact with the Instructors and other participants when they become available. Contact us before coming!
Is my grade/ belt from another karate/ martial arts school transferable to the Karate class at LHA?
> LHA is not a grade-certifying body and as such, we have no opinions over what belt color a participant wears.
Participants are free to don any color belts they wish to if they choose to be dressed in a Karate dogi for practice.
Above all, a participant's attitude in our classes matters more than the belt they wear and we're not shy to turn away participants who do not embody the values we hold at LHA.
Do you offer Grading?
However, we can refer participants interested in Grading to clubs within our network to be graded.
Am I too old to join?
> If you are above the age of 7 (within the calendar year) and in good general health, you are definitely welcomed to join us.
When in doubt, we recommend seeking advice from a qualified medical professional.
