Grading
What is Grading?
Grading is a formal assessment of a participant's proficiency in his/ her martials arts practice.
Participants who are successful at Grading can advance to the next level of practice, marked by a color belt and a grade certificate awarded by a reputable accrediting body.
At LHA, participants may opt to be graded in Karate and Kudo, following an invite from the coach.
Why take Grading?
Grading provides participants with a tangible and progressive way of measuring success in their martial arts journey, by giving them clear milestones to achieve.
Such clarity can give participants the motivation needed keep improving, especially at a lifelong endeavor like Karate.
Receiving a grade certificate from an internationally-renowned governing body also allows the participant to continue practicing Karate and Kudo anywhere in the world, where his/ her certificate are recognized.

> Kudo International Federation (KIF) for Kudo Daido Juku
> New International Karate Organization (NIKO) for Ashihara Karate

How to be eligible for Grading?
A participant's eligibility for Grading is first and foremost at the discretion of the Coach-Instructor. Coach-Instructors must ascertain that applicants fulfill the relevant pre-requisites that among others include- a minimum class attendance, membership validity (to the grade-certifying body), and technical competency in the syllabus. Participants who have been deemed ready by the coach will be invited to register for Grading. How often is Grading conducted? Typically 3 times a year, in late March, July, and November. |
