This program focuses on providing participants with a safe and progressive platform to enjoy the globally fast-growing sport of Kudo- an open-rules full-contact combat sport incorporating protective equipment.

Practice involves learning various aspects of unarmed combat, (i.e. striking, grappling, throws and takedowns, and ground submissions) and integrating them in sparring according to the Kudo ruleset.

This program is contact-intensive involving partnered practice and is run with safety and respect at its core- using protective equipment and upholding the spirit of Japanese martial arts culture (budo).

Lionheart Academy is a proud partner of Kudo International Federation (KIF), the global governing body for Kudo.
We are the sole Singapore representative for Kudo Daido Juku in Singapore as accredited by KIF, with our Resident Coach, Spencer Zhang, appointed as the country Country Chief.

About Kudo Daido Juku
Following his departure from the Kyokushin Karate organization in 1981, the late founder, Azuma Takashi, founded his own martial arts school, which he called Daido Juku (大道塾).

Fueled by his desire to create a realistic and versatile fighting style encompassing a wide variety of striking and grappling-locking techniques, he created Kudo (空道), which today is a fast-growing and internationally-renowned combat sport that promotes a "safe yet practical" style of fighting.

What began as a hybrid of full-contact Karate and Judo in the early days, is today recognized as Kudo, a distinct Japanese martial art that incorporates a vast array of effective unarmed combat techniques from various martial art forms, encompassing Striking (including Head Butts), Throwing/ Takedown, and Ground-based Submissions.

Given this, it is often referred to as "Japanese Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)".

A distinguishing feature of Kudo is the use of the "space helmet", called the Neo Head Gear, which protects the head area from injury while providing optimum visibility.

The Neo Head Gear allows Kudo exponents to full express their martial arts prowess while significantly reducing facial cuts and trauma, which is typical in many other combat sports.

Participants aged 15 and above, who are interested in a sparring-intensive class based on an open ruleset and excel in the sport of Kudo (Japanese MMA)

60 - 90 minutes

Other Information
Participants may also attend other Programs in tandem with this class.
Participants interested in formal progression in the practice may express their interest for Grading to the Coach-Instructor.
